Brian & Laura's Engagement Session

I don’t even know where to start this post.  Brian has been one of our best friends forever.  Seriously.  He went to Elementary school with Scott and I have known him since the 10th grade.   I always have a hard time blogging about my family and friends.  Yes, not only am I a nervous wreck when they ask me to photograph them but then I totally don’t know what to say.  I’m afraid I’ll share too much and embarrass them or myself like by telling the story of this time we were up in Traverse City, then there was this “fight” we got while vacationing in the Dominican Republic…  The stories and memories that we have could take a lifetime.

He stood with us at our wedding as our Best Man, and has been like a brother to me through the years.  And I have to admit, I’ve always been a little protective of him when it came to who he was dating.  I recently saw an episode of “How I Met Your Mother” and they referred to it as the porch theory.  I think it describes it perfectly.  I needed for Brian to be with someone that years from now when we’re old and having beers on the patio, it’ll be the same as it always has been. Us laughing together, making fun of each other, telling stories, playing games and making new memories.  And I couldn’t be happier for him (and Scott and I) that he found that in Laura!  I couldn’t have hand picked a better girl for Brian myself.  She’s laid back and fun and always up for anything.  She’s caring, she’s kind, she has a heart of gold and I am proud to call her my friend.

Although they aren’t having me shoot their wedding, instead Scott and I will be standing at the alter with them, they did agree to let me do their engagement session.  They were such good sports letting me practice and try new things.  Some of which worked and some didn’t.  But it was awesome to be able work with a little less pressure of having to perform.

Brian & Laura, thank you for being a part of our lives!

Meet Asher!

Whoa, stop the presses.  More than one post in a day, let alone a week!  Crazy.  I’m so very behind in posting sessions here and I apologize.  It seems that my poor blog gets put aside as I focus on getting clients their images.  It’s something I’m working on and I’m hoping to get all caught up soon!

Remember Becky & Corey from their maternity session?  Well Asher was welcomed into the world August 11th!  He’s such a perfect little guy and Becky & Corey are in their glory. They have fallen into their role as parents so naturally and I know that they are enjoying every moment!

Asher stayed wide awake the whole time we were there, it was like he didn’t want to miss a thing!

Congratulations Becky & Corey, Asher is truly amazing and you guys are pretty cool yourselves!  :-)

Emily & Dave’s Rochester Engagement Session

It was welcome weekend right before their Junior Year at MSU when they met at a friend’s party.  Rather than mingling they ended up spending the entire night on the balcony talking, and that’s where it all began.  After graduation, Emily was living in Traverse City while David stayed in East Lansing to finish his MBA.  Although they aren’t able to spend as much time together as they were used to, they truly value the time that the do get and their love for each other continues to grow.  Now they are planning their February 2011 wedding while she’s living here and David’s finishing up grad school.

David spent his summer doing his internship in Atlanta, GA, but we were able to squeeze in their engagement session while he was in town.  I had so much fun with them, and I know that their wedding is going to be a blast!  We decided to walk Main Street in downtown Rochester and then ended their session at Fieldstone Winery.  They both enjoy trying new wines (a couple after my own heart), so it couldn’t have been more perfect!  And I have to say, Emily & David you guys totally rock!  They even bought me a bottle of wine!  Thank you!   And please know that if you are a client reading this, please, please, please do not think that you have do anything like this.  Although I am forever thankful, it is definitely unexpected.

Michelle & Bryan’s St. Clair Shores Engagement Session

I absolutely adore Michelle and Bryan!  They are getting married next March and wanted to do their engagement session at Memorial Park in St. Clair Shores.  I’ve shot there quite a few times this summer, but what I loved the most about it this time is that Michelle and Bryan chose a place that was special to them.  This is where Bryan and Michelle spend a lot of time together.  They often walk the path here and it’s even where he proposed!

I have quite a few sessions to get blogged, so bare with me as I get caught up!  Here’s a few of my favorites from Michelle & Bryan’s session…

Sophia's 3 Months!

I know I’ve said it countless times that I love my job.  Really, I do.  One of my favorite things about my life as a photographer is that I get to document the lives of people and their families.  Literally.  This year I started offering a First Year package and am super excited to say that I have 5 families currently taking part in it, so you my dear blog readers will be able to watch these little ones grow along with us.

First up, is the adorable Sophia.  It’s amazing how quickly babies grow, and I couldn’t even believe it when Laura came to proof the images from our session.  Sophia had changed so much in the few weeks, it blew me away!  I’m really looking forward to seeing how much she’s grown by the time we do her 6 month session!  For now, here’s the adorable 3 month old Sophia!

Such a cute smile!

Of course we had to include big “Fairy Lillian” in some images and she was all about dressing up for them!

Seriously cute!  I love how you can see the little one’s personalities already forming even at this age.  Jesse & Laurie – she is definitely going to be your “Wild Child”!  :-)

Sophia’s outfit was so cute and so vintage, I love the “old film” processing of this image.

And a few more of my favorites of Lillian.
