I was looking forward to this session from the moment that Erica had contacted me. And with a good looking family like this, how could I not be? We had decided to do their session at Metro Beach. The day was perfect, or it seemed to be anyways. As I always do, I had checked the weather before heading out. There was a very little chance of rain, 0% to be exact. At least in Roseville anyways. Because, it’s “Always Sunny in Roseville” as we often joke. Being that Metro Beach is only 5 miles from my house, the weather can’t be that different right? Or can it?
As we were walking the park by the water I noticed these super dark clouds starting to roll in, but I thought that it was going to go north of us so we kept plugging along. And then the Tornado sirens started. We decided to start making our way back, hoping to finish up our session before the storm hit, if it was even going to. Then out of nowhere comes this security car reacing towards us, yelling that we had to get out of there. Like now. We had just made it back to the parking lot when the rain started.
I am a storm lover. I love a good house shaking thunderstorm, or at least I thought I did. Turns out that I like them from the comfort of my own home, not sitting in my Blazer at the side of the road. This storm was wicked and it took me nearly 45 minutes to get home! People I have never been so scared in a storm. I had to pull off the express way, there were tree limbs flying and cars swerving every which way. When I finally made it off the highway and “safely” pulled over on the side of the road, the storm got really bad. I swear that my Blazer was up on two wheels as the winds whipped and rocked me back and forth. Leaves were pressed up against my windows and I just kept thinking, please let me get home safe. Please don’t let me end up in someplace like Oz. Is that Toto flying past my window or a piece of a tree? Where’s Auntie Em? Although it felt like I was there forever, the storm finally passed and I was able to get home. And wouldn’t you know it? Not a drop of rain in sunny Roseville!
Needless to say, we rescheduled our session. This time the weather was much nicer and we headed to downtown New Baltimore. It was a perfect Sunday morning, maybe a little warm but after our last attempt, I was going to complain one bit! It made it a perfect morning for ice cream for breakfast!
